Believe it or not, children can suffer from dental anxiety just like adults. Especially if they've never been to the dentist before, or if they've had a negative experience with a dentist in the past. At our office, we strive to provide a comfortable, fun and educational environment for your child so that they feel at ease when they visit.

Easing Your Child's Anxiety

If you notice that your child is showing unusual amounts of stress due to the fact that they're anxious about visiting us, there are lots of things you can do at home to help ease this tension. For starters, call our office and stop in for a tour, we'll be happy to show your child around and talk about what we do during a routine cleaning. We also have many children's books in our waiting room that address the stress that your child may be feeling. Or check out a few from your local library. It's true what they say, â€œKnowledge is powerâ€ and the more your child knows about what we do in our office, the less fearful they will be.
Role playing is a great way for younger children to learn about their dentist visit. Again, call or stop by our office and we'll be happy to give you things like gloves, masks and other disposable items that we use during our exam. Once your home, you and your child can take turns playing Dentist and learning about the process. Children learn through play and pretending to be a dentist could be exactly what your child needs to overcome the anxiety they're feeling.
