 Crown lengthening, when required is something that many have to think about whether or not they want to have it done. If they do not, they may risk having to have the tooth that is under the gum removed. This is because they cannot leave it there for a length of time since this can cause it to break down and decay, causing pain and infection inside the mouth. When the lengthening is required, it is to place a crown on the tooth that is otherwise hidden by the gums.
